Every year, Cynthia knits a new Christmas stocking to add to her personal collection. She loves, loves, loves to knit these stockings. This year, Barb is joining in on this fun end-of-year tradition and we're hoping you'll come along too, and join us. We'll cast on November 24 (you can start earlier if you like) and we'll finish up on December 22 with a stocking reveal party. Each Sunday, from November 24 to December 22, Barb and Cynthia will host a short one hour zoom session for a progress update, a show-and-share and to answer questions about the project.

The zoom sessions will take place on Sundays: Nov 24 - Dec 22, starting at 2:00 pm PST, 3:00 pm MST, 4:00 pm CST and SK, 5:00 pm EST, 6:00 pm AST.

We'll use our Epic Christmas Stocking pattern, which was designed by Barb and Cynthia. It's a pattern that allows you to "create your own adventure" with different options to choose from at each point in the project.

Want to join along? You'll need a copy of the Epic Christmas Stocking Pattern and approximately 200g (400m) of worsted weight yarn in two, three or four colours. We've put some images of four colour "combos" that we like as inspiration for you. The Zoom KAL is free! Put one in your cart to get the zoom login code for the sessions.

November 24: Christmas Stocking Topper (Section 1)

In this tutorial, we show you how to work a cable cast on and review the options for two possible toppers to begin your stocking: the Latvian Braid or a fold over hem. We show you how to join in a new colour (the easy way) and then working the "little boxes" pattern.

December 1: Christmas Stocking Leg (Section 2)

In this tutorial, we show you how to read a knitting chart, work stranded colourwork and shadow knitting. Either one of these options will create a beautiful stocking leg. Warning: you may find it hard to choose!

December 8: Christmas Stocking Heel

This section is all about German Short Rows! Shape your heel working back and forth while part of your stocking is on hold. We like this clever option for a heel (no afterthoughts here!)

December 15: Christmas Stocking Foot and Toe

Now that we're finished the heel, we'll get back to working in the round. In this video we'll show you how to transition from working the heel to resuming your pattern from the leg. Then we'll introduce another pattern option for your stocking. And since we're so very close to the end, let's carry on and finish with the toe!

December 22: Finishing Touches

If you haven't already done this (you could watch ahead, we promise... it's allowed), today is the day that you should weave in your ends and sew down the hem (if you make one) at the top of your stocking. In these tutorial videos, we'll show you how to duplicate stitch on your stocking, we'll address washing and blocking, and in the second video, we'll share how to make a hanger for your stocking...one that will hold up to all the treats Santa will put inside!
