The Laurentian Plateau covers almost half of Canada, from the Great Lakes to the Arctic Ocean. The rugged landscape inspires images of snow, mineral rich rock and migrating caribou herds. The yellow diamonds in this entrelac design add a pop of colour, framed by the monochromatic hues of a snowy Canadian vista from the rocky outcrop of a mountain top. Garter stitch gives this blanket a lofty warmth like a fat ptarmigan! Make this design your own with colour choices that are inspired by your landscape. And when you’re done, wrap yourself up and enjoy the sunset from your balcony or cabin deck, on a pier, in a prairie field or at the edge of the forest; you’ll be cozy and warm!

For our samples, we used River City Yarns Epic yarn; 194 m / 212 yds per 100 g ball; 100% virgin wool for the original blanket. Note: River City Yarns Epic Yarn has been discontinued. For yarn substitutions, we recommend Cascade 220 which is also a 100% Peruvian wool, for the closest fibre match. Alternatively, Berroco Ultra Wool or Rowan Pure Wool Worsted would also be good matches if you would like a superwash wool substitution.
