Snow Queen is a tribute to the classic Canadian novel, Anne of Green Gables, by Lucy Maud Montgomery. You'll start off with a corrugated rib that doubles as a picket fence and and move into a blossoming cherry tree. An optional chart is included if you'd like to add the words "Snow Queen" to your hat. The hat pattern comes in one size (adult medium) but you could make it larger by using a bigger gauge yarn (worsted) and larger needles (4.5 - 5.0mm). You could also make it smaller by doing the opposite! The yarn used for this project is Rhichard Devrieze Sirocco (100% Merino, 244m/110g) in two colourways (Gables and Snow Queen) dyed especially for our March 20 Flashmob. We drew our inspiration from Anne, but also from this quote:
“I named that cherry-tree outside my bedroom window this morning. I called it Snow Queen because it was so white. Of course, it won’t always be in blossom, but one can imagine that it is, can’t one?”
Now that our Flashmob is over and the yarn is sold out, we are offering this hat pattern to you, for free (or only $1.00 if you'd like it printed). We have put together some alternative yarn "pairings" if you'd like to make this hat as well. Check these out:
Go with a green background and a white/pink pattern with River City Yarns Eden (81% Merino, 9% Cashmere, 10% Nylon, 195 m/213 yds, 115 g/4.06 oz) in Forest and Winter (creamier) or Maria (more pink). Or go for a very different look with any two highly contrasting colours, such as Silver and Green Apple or Jewel and Myrrh. There are so many unique combinations!
Choose from two options for this product: Print Pattern (requires shipping), or PDF Download (instant download at checkout).
