Inspired by the gorgeous sock drawers of Susan B. Anderson, Jasmin and Gigi of The Knitmore Girls podcast started the hashtag #operationsockdrawer in an effort to knit a collection of socks just as photo worthy. Tens of thousands of knitters have since joined the campaign to knit more pretty socks and the hashtag has grown to more than 200k tags on social media.

Think of Operation Sock Drawer as your sock knitting survival guide. In it you’ll find:

Need pretty yarn?  We love Adam & Eve, hand dyed by the artists at Handmaiden, and containing just right amount of cashmere....or our Hat Trick Hockey inspired italian merino nylon fingering weight sock yarn dyed in all the colours by Caroline Sommerfeld of Ancient Arts.  This soft and sturdy sock yarn comes in a whole range of semi solid shades as well.   

Pre-orders! Every now and then, we get an opportunity to offer you something special; something that we're not able to stock on a regular basis. We call this a pre-order. Because the product isn't in the shop, you can "pre-order" it and when it comes in, it's yours! Like all good things, pre-orders may take their sweet time in arriving and will hold up the rest of your order. For this reason, pre-orders are best made as an individual order.

If you're making an order for local pickup, where shipping isn't an issue, please consider placing one order for your "pre-order" only and another order for anything else that is already in stock. This way, you will be notified as soon as we fulfill the order with the in-stock items and you can come by and pick it up.

For orders which require shipping, we suggest placing one order to include both pre-order and in-stock items and waiting until the pre-order items arrive at River City Yarns. Once we have everything for your order, we will ship it all together. If you need in-stock items to arrive sooner, please place two separate orders. It's going to cost more in shipping but you'll have what you need, when you need it.
