In 2017 Canada celebrated its 150th birthday! At that time Hand Maiden made an exclusive National Parks collection of colourways to celebrate many wonderful places in Canada. And now, in 2022 they have added four new colourways inspired by 4 more National Parks! Here are the new colours:
- Jasper National Park, Alberta - inspired by sunsets and mountain shadows over Maligne Lake
- Tobermory Bruce Peninsula, Ontario - inspired by stargazing the milkyway on limestone cliffs of the Georgian Bay
- Torngat, Newfoundland - inspired by jagged peaks, subarctic meadows, and mineral lakes
- Cape Breton Highlands, Nova Scotia - inspired by ancient plateaus, waterfalls and scenic drives
These new colours are offered on hand maiden's Vine yarn base. Vine is a single ply fingering weight merino yarn with viscose nubs. The tweed yarn nubs, in cream, tan, brown and black resist the dyes and stand in contrast to the National Parks colourways. The result is a wild, weedy, texture yarn. We like to use it on its own or together with the solid shades of Blue Sky Fiber's Woolstok Light.
Pattern suggestions? This yarn is great for lightweight sweaters - check out Cynthia's Ahmic Lake Pullover, made with just 2 skeins of Vine and 3 skeins (1 each of three colours) of Blue Sky Fiber's Woolstok Light.

and we just had to share this comment from our happy customer:
Hi, I received my National Parks Collection Cape Breton Highlands order. It is stunning. The photo does not do it justice. Thank you so much. Sue D.
Note about yarns from our website: Photographs aren't perfect; they don't capture the texture and feel of the yarn. Colours viewed on different monitors may have shade and tone differences from the actual product.
