Our friend Lois is again collecting mittens (and other warm accessories) for one of our local agencies that provides hope and support for a large number of Edmonton's vulnerable population. We're inviting everyone in our community to make and donate warm articles of clothing for the upcoming cold weather months. You don't have to be local to get involved!
River City Yarns will be hosting a weekly Mitten Makers Meet-Up via Zoom on Tuesdays: September 8, 15, 22, 29 and October 6, 2020 from 6:00 - 7:00 pm MT. There is a $5.00 registration fee for this event and all the proceeds from the registration fees will go to the Mustard Seed in the form of a cash donation. In each meet up session, Cynthia will answer your questions about mitten knitting and give you access to private online tutorials. If you've never knit a mitten before, this is a great opportunity to learn how. You don't have to be local to join in on our Maker's Meet-Ups. Your registration fee will go to support this Yarn It Forward initiative and your completed mittens can be donated to a local-to-you program of your choosing. You'll also get an opportunity to connect with other makers, to show off your growing pile of warm outerwear and to put some of your stash yarns to good use!
Lois will be at the weekly Mitten Maker's Meet-up as well. She'll tell you first hand about why she wants to support this local organization. And, she'll be at River City Yarns on Friday, October 9 from 3:00 - 4:00 pm to personally collect your donated items and reward you with a cup of hot coffee. Lois will be dropping off the donations at the Mustard Seed the following day so that folks coming for a Thanksgiving meal can take away some outer warmth as well.
