Possibly the best winter knitting is mittens. And not just any mittens. We love these thrummed mitten kits from Fleece Artist for their warmth and cosy interiors. Think walking the dog, grocery shopping trips and snow ball fights! Thrumming is an old technique that is just so much fun. By pulling small tufts of sliver, these are knit into a garment creating a fuzzy warm layer on the inside and irresistible polka dots on the outside.
Fleece Artist has been making these kits for years and in each bundle you will find Wonder Woolen yarn, a 100% regionally sourced Canadian wool (25 Micron, Woolen Spun), a bundle of 100% Merino roving, and a pattern for making thrum mitts. Wonder Woolen is now the choice for the yarn put into the Fleece Artist Thrummed Mitt kits because it is heartier and sturdier than the yarns they have used in the past and will wear harder, last longer, and keep you warmer. Wonder Woolen is also thicker than the previous yarns used, and knits up faster on larger 5.5mm/US9 needles. Colour combos are chosen by the dyers at Fleece Artist. If you would like a specific shade (i.e. blues, browns, reds etc) and a note to your online order. If you are happy with Dyer's choice we will pick our favourite colour combo and get your kit right off to you!
