Pure rustic merino from the area of Castilla y León, Spain, the birthplace of merino sheep. The wool is scoured in one of last scouring factories of the country, located in Bejar, and is then spun by master artisans in Val de San Lorenzo. Just like 'Quarry' from Brooklyn Tweed, this yarn may look like a single yarn, however, it is actually three unspun plies twisted together to add structural integrity.

We are proud to carry dLana yarns. We believe strongly in the work they are doing to create an ethically responsible merino yarn. They are a family company that produces Spanish wool yarns and garments, full of history and love, supporting both livestock and the local textile industry. They take care of every detail, from the sheep, to the hands of each shepherd, artisan, shearer or dyer involved.

dLana strives to recover the high value of merino wool as a raw material, taking care of all the steps and processes until it becomes a final product. Their work methodology means that 30% of the gross economic value of their products has a direct economic impact on the maintenance of the value chain that has been generated and perpetuated by wool for centuries. That is, one third of what we generate, directly affects each and every one of the actors involved in the process that culminates in the 100% sustainable yarns and garments that we put on the market.

dLana also gives visibility to the hard work of all the people involved in the process of getting this pure merino wool, as well as to their contribution to maintaining the environment, rural development and biodiversity. All this, together with an extreme sensitivity and affection for the work, care with respect to the animals and the desire that the Spanish handicraft be respected and endured, as an intangible heritage of great value. All of them represent common values that dLana believes enrich the project that they carry out today.

Note about yarns from our website: Photographs aren't perfect; they don't capture the texture and feel of the yarn. Colours viewed on different monitors may have shade and tone differences from the actual product. If you would like assistance with selecting a colour or an opinion/advice on finding a good yarn for your project, please feel free to give us a call.
