Corinthian, designed by Martin Storey for Rowan Yarns, is a generous striped, reversible wrap, done in plain knit and purl stitch, with two colour striped sections.  The stitches are knit and purled in a certain sequence on the same row, to create an optical illusion.  The stripes morph into square box shapes, that can be seen plainly when viewed from a certain angle.  Suitable for the beginner knitter, this pattern is a fascinating knit and easy to accomplish by following Martin's pattern, row by row. Barb and Cynthia talk about the shadow knitting effect and show their Corinthian wrap sample on their youtube channel - Podcast On Episode #64  at approximately minute 33. 

We've put together Corinthian kits using Martin's favourite yarn, Rowan Felted Tweed. Spun in a light DK weight, with a beautiful tweed effect and an amazing 50+ colours to choose from, it's a knitter's dream. But that's not all. The magical combination of 50% lightly-felted wool, 25% viscose and 25% alpaca makes a drapey, squishable fabric that is cosy, yet light and easy to wear. You can choose from Martin's original colour combo (Kit A) or one of four other colour combos we've put together for an eye-catching, one-of-a-kind wrap. 

FINISHED SIZE: Each kit contains enough yarn to make the one size wrap, rectangular in shape and measuring 48 cm (19 in) wide and 198 cm (78 in) long.

Our yarn kit includes: 

9 balls of Rowan Felted Tweed in five different colour combinations

  • Kit A - Seafarer Blue (#170 x 4), Clay (#177 x 2) and Granite (#191 x 3)
  • Kit B - Black (#211 x 4), Candy Floss (#221 x 2) and Aluminium (#210 x 3)
  • Kit C - Ultramarine (#214 x 4), Alabaster (#197 x 2) and Ciel (#215 x 3)
  • Kit D - Treacle (#145 x 4), Peach (#212 x 2) and Camel (#157 x 3) 
  • Kit E - Ancient (#172 x 4), Stone (#190 x 2) and Fjord (#218 x 3)

You will also need: 

  • Pattern - available as a single pattern on Ravelry here
  • Needles - 1 pair of 4.0 mm (US 6) needles
