Alpaca Classic is made using a cotton net which is filled with superfine alpaca fibers, resulting in a wonderfully soft, light weight yarn you will fall in love with. Due to its fine weight and intense colour palette, Alpaca Classic is ideal for fair isle patterns and a multitude of garments and accessories.

Envelope yourself in the cosy charm of Bracken, a generous striped scarf knitted in a combination of Rowan Felted Tweed and Alpaca Classic. It is available in Rowan Magazine Number 68. Designed by Erika Knight in simple Stocking stitch, this piece oozes reassuring warmth. See this piece in the Rowan trunk show video on our YouTube channel.

This yarn is ideal for a sweater that is thermal and light. The lacy cardigan Abbotsford from Rowan Magazine Number 68 is designed to showcase the fuzziness of the yarn while also adding a warm layer to any casual outfit. Alpaca Classic also looks beautiful in the colourwork sweater Mellerstain, which is also from Rowan Magazine Number 68. It also makes use of many colour of Alpaca Classic which makes the sweater look like a sunset. You can use their colours or play around with colour and create your own gorgeous palette. See this piece in the Rowan trunk show video on our YouTube channel.

Try Rowan Alpaca Classic in the Arabella Cowl (pattern available with purchase of yarn). This cozy cowl is designed by Lisa Richardson and uses 6 balls of Alpaca Classic. The sample is worked in: 2 balls of Charcoal Melange #102, and 1 ball each of Sun Valley #113, Snowflake White #115, Peacock #107 and Deep Teal #109. We encourage individuality! Choose 2 balls of a main colour in a neutral that is either dark or light, 1 ball in a neutral that is opposite (dark or light) to your main colour,  2 colours that you really love together and one colour to add a "pop" (for example: yellow, green, pink or orange).

If you want an even cozier project, try out the Mayfield Wrap also designed by Lisa Richardson. This beautiful scarf is knitted in three shades of Alpaca Classic. Sample shown in Snowflake White #115 (5 balls), Soft Satin #116 (5 balls) and Sierra Melange #117 (6 balls). The pattern for this lovely wrap is available in Rowan Magazine 64.
