An Introduction to the Magic of Lace Knitting.
Through swatching, we explore different types of stitch patterns, and how to work them. We also talk about how to read patterns, making sure you’re confident with both written and charted instructions. We’ll also talk about how to identify, fix and prevent mistakes, and provide tips for making lace easier and more fun. If you’ve got a lace project you want to tackle, bring it so we can make sure we work on the skills you need.
This 3 hour workshop takes place on Thursday, October 24 starting at 3:00 pm PDT, 4:00 pm MDT, 5:00 pm CDT, 6:00 pm EDT, 7:00 pm ADT.
Skill level: advanced beginner; knitters must be comfortable with knit, purl, increasing and decreasing.
Please bring: small balls/leftovers of light-colored medium-weight yarn and 4-5mm/US #6-8 needles (straight or short circular) to work through some small swatches. Please also bring the project you wish to start!
Did you know? Kate has co-authored a fabulous book called Custom Shawls for the Curious and Creative Knitter with Kim McBrien Evans. It's a great resource for lace and shawl knitters alike!
