Entrelac in the Round

What it's About: Discover how to create a basket-weave effect with your knitting. In this project-based, introductory class, you’ll learn how to knit entrelac in-the-round while making a wrist warmer. Optional: After class you have the option to turn your wrist warmer into a mitten. (Yarniversity will purchase a copy of Holli's Pulse Point Entrelac mitten pattern for all participants.)

This 3-hour workshop takes place on Saturday, November 9 starting at 12:00 pm PST, 1:00 pm MST, 2:00 pm CST, 3:00 pm EST, 4:00 pm AST.

Skill Level - Intermediate: you are comfortable knitting in the round, are familiar with different kinds of decreases (k2tog, ssk) and you have picked up stitches along a knitted edge before (e.g. neckline edge, sock gussets, button bands).

Pre-Work Required:

With MC* and 3.25 mm (US 3) needle, cast on 34 sts. Join to work in the round being careful not to twist sts and place marker for end of round.
Knit 1 round. Purl 1 round.
Repeat last 2 rounds once more. Break MC. Leave sts on needle.

* If you’re planning turning your cuff into mittens after class, MC is the main mitten
colour.

Please Bring:

  • A small amount of 2-3 colours worsted weight yarn in a light to medium colours (if you want to make a full pair of mittens after the class with your workshop sample, you'll need about 130m of your main colour)
  • 3.25mm / US 3 and 4.0mm / US 6 circular needles, 80cm (32”) long;
  • stitch markers
  • basic knitter’s tool kit (scissors, darning needle, measuring tape)
