We love online learning. Especially when we're able to bring great instructors like Kate Atherley right to you. Using Zoom as our online videoconferencing platform, you can take this class from anywhere.

Closure: Buttons and Zippers

This class is all about two challenging garment finishing details: buttons and zippers. We begin with a discussion of buttonholes: what’s the best method to make them and how to keep them tidy and neat. And then once you’ve got the holes, we talk about how to attach the buttons to make sure they stay on and don’t get loose. And then, of course, if you don’t want buttons, we’ll show you how to insert a zipper into knits.

Date Change! This 2-hour online workshop has been rescheduled. It will take place on Tuesday, June 27 starting at 2:00 pm PST, 3:00 pm MST, 4:00 pm CST, 5:00 pm EST, 6:00 pm AST.

Skill level: intermediate; students should have some garment experience.

Please bring: 4-5mm/US #6-8 knitting needles, and some scrap worsted weight yarn, a single button, a 6-inch zipper, a sewing needle and thread.

Have you got any specific questions about closures that you'd like Kate to address in class? Please send an email to and she'll send them in advance. Time will be given for asking questions during the workshop as well.
