We love online learning. Especially when we're able to bring great instructors like Kate Atherley right to you. Using Zoom as our online videoconferencing platform, you can take this class from anywhere.

"Work even?"

You're ready to knit your first (or second) sweater and you've got questions:

  • What does "ease" mean? Is the "finished size" the same as my chest measurement?
  • How do you navigate a pattern that has 9 sizes?
  • How do I keep track of neckline increases and armhole decreases "at the same time"?
  • What is a schematic and how does it help me?

Pattern Reading, presented by Kate Atherley, is designed for knitters who are confident with their needles, but less confident with pattern instructions (and that's a lot of us!) This session is all about how to read and fully understand knitting patterns.

Kate will explain all those abbreviations and terms you encounter, like WS and "even" and how to read instructions for repeats. She'll demystify terms and techniques, and provide a master glossary so you'll never be lost again. Kate will teach you how to understand pattern sizing and measurement information - including garment schematics -- with a focus on making sure you always choose the right size for garment patterns.

There is no pre-work required but if you have specific questions that you'd like Kate to address, send them in advance of class to cynthia@yarniversity.ca.

This 2-hour workshop takes place on Thursday, September 26 starting at 3:00 pm PDT, 4:00 pm MDT, 5:00 pm CDT, 6:00 pm EDT, 7:00 pm ADT.
